Love in Action, Seven Ways We Serve
At Love in Action, every program we run begins with a genuine need identified within our communities. From the moment of our founding in November 2021, our seven objectives have shaped every activity, every distribution, and every act of service we carry out across the national territory of Cameroon.
Below you will find a full description of each of our seven programs, what they are, who they serve, what we aim to achieve, and the specific activities we carry out on the ground. Every program is funded through member contributions, donations, and endowments from individuals and organisations who share our vision of a better tomorrow.
Elderly & Disabled Care
Providing dignified support to those who have given the most and need the most in return.
Elderly persons and individuals living with physical disabilities are among the most overlooked members of our communities. Without adequate income, family support, or access to care services, many face daily hardship in silence. Love in Action is committed to ensuring that no elderly or disabled person in Cameroon feels forgotten.
Through this program, LIA visits, supports, and provides material and emotional care to elderly individuals and persons with physical impairments across the Donga-Mantung Division and beyond. Our team of nurses, who form the backbone of our founding membership, bring both professional expertise and personal compassion to every engagement.
Objectives
- To provide regular care, support, and companionship to elderly individuals in vulnerable circumstances.
- To identify physically impaired persons in underserved communities and connect them with appropriate assistance.
- To supply mobility aids, personal care items, and essential household materials to those who cannot afford them.
- To advocate for the dignity, rights, and inclusion of elderly and disabled persons in Cameroonian society.
Key Activities
- Regular home and community visits to elderly and disabled individuals by LIA members and volunteers.
- Distribution of essential care items, household supplies, and personal necessities.
- Coordination with local health workers and community leaders to identify those most in need.
- Awareness campaigns within communities on the rights and needs of elderly and disabled persons.
- Referral to relevant medical or social services where needed.
Women Empowerment
Building economic independence for single mothers and standing firmly against domestic violence.
In many communities across Cameroon, women, particularly single mothers, face a disproportionate burden of poverty, insecurity, and domestic hardship. Without access to capital, skills training, or a support network, the cycle of vulnerability continues from one generation to the next. Love in Action believes that empowering a woman empowers an entire family.
Through this program, LIA works directly with single mothers and women in vulnerable situations to provide business start-up support, financial assistance, and skills development. We also take a firm stand against domestic violence providing awareness, support, and referral pathways for women who need help
Objectives
- To support single mothers in starting and sustaining small businesses that generate a sustainable income.
- To provide financial grants, startup capital, or material support to women entrepreneurs in underserved communities.
- To actively fight domestic violence through awareness campaigns, community education, and support referrals.
- To build a network of empowered women who can support and mentor one another within their communities.
Key Activities
- Business start-up support including planning guidance, seed capital, and material resources for single mothers.
- Financial gift distributions to women in critical need, including cash gifts and essential supplies.
- Community workshops and training sessions on business skills, financial literacy, and women’s rights.
- Domestic violence awareness campaigns in partnership with local community and faith leaders.
- Safe referral pathways for women experiencing domestic violence to access appropriate help and protection.
- Regular follow-up and mentoring for women who have received start-up support.
Humanitarian Emergency Relief
Responding rapidly when communities need help the most, with no delays and no conditions.
Humanitarian crises, whether caused by conflict, displacement, natural disaster, or extreme poverty, can devastate communities overnight. In the North West Region of Cameroon, many families have experienced prolonged hardship, displacement, and loss. Love in Action maintains a readiness to respond quickly and compassionately whenever a community faces an emergency.
This program is LIA’s rapid-response mechanism, mobilising supplies, funds, and volunteers to deliver essential relief to those affected by crisis. Whether it is food, non-food items, shelter materials, or basic medical supplies, LIA ensures that relief reaches those who need it without bureaucratic delay.
Objectives
- To provide immediate, targeted relief to communities and individuals facing humanitarian emergencies.
- To mobilise resources quickly and efficiently in response to crisis situations across Cameroon.
- To ensure that the most vulnerable persons, the elderly, disabled, children, and displaced families, receive priority in all relief distributions.
- To coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and partner organisations to maximise relief impact.
Key Activities
- Rapid assessment of community needs following a crisis or emergency event.
- Procurement and organisation of food, non-food items, and essential supplies for distribution.
- Coordinated distributions at accessible community venues, prioritising the most vulnerable.
- Deployment of LIA volunteers and members to support relief logistics on the ground.
- Post-relief follow-up to assess ongoing needs and plan further support where necessary.
- Collaboration with partner organisations and authorities to ensure a coordinated and dignified response.
Education & Scholarships
Putting books in children’s hands and opening doors that poverty would otherwise keep closed.
Education is the most powerful tool we can give a child, yet for thousands of students across Cameroon, a lack of school materials, textbooks, or financial support means that classroom doors remain closed. Children with disabilities, from low-income homes, or in communities affected by hardship are the most severely impacted.
Love in Action’s Education & Scholarships program directly addresses this gap. We procure and distribute school materials — notebooks, pens, textbooks, mathematical sets, and bags, to students from underprivileged backgrounds, with a particular focus on students with visual impairments and other disabilities. We also work toward providing scholarship support to help students remain in school and complete their education.
Objectives
- To promote literacy and access to education by providing school materials to children and students who cannot afford them.
- To support students with disabilities, particularly those with visual impairments, in accessing the tools they need to learn.
- To provide scholarships and financial support to academically deserving students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- To reduce dropout rates among vulnerable students by removing financial barriers to continued education.
- To partner with schools, orphanages, and institutions for the disabled to ensure materials reach those who need them most.
Key Activities
- Procurement and distribution of school materials including notebooks, pens, textbooks, mathematical sets, rulers, and bags.
- Targeted distributions at schools, community halls, and institutions for students with disabilities.
- Scholarship assessment and support for deserving students from low-income families.
- Partnership with institutions such as the Rehabilitation Institute for the Blind (RIB) and FUHOSEA CMR to reach students with disabilities.
- Annual back-to-school campaigns ensuring students are equipped at the start of each academic year.
- Follow-up with recipient students and families to track school attendance and performance.
Disease Control
Protecting families from preventable diseases, one net, one community, one life at a time.
Preventable diseases continue to claim lives across Cameroon, particularly in rural and underserved communities where access to health products and information is limited. Malaria alone remains a leading cause of death, especially among children under five and pregnant women. Love in Action is committed to fighting this through prevention, education, and direct distribution of protective materials.
Through our Disease Control program, LIA distributes mosquito nets and pesticides to families in vulnerable communities and organises health awareness campaigns to equip residents with the knowledge they need to protect themselves and their loved ones. Prevention saves lives, and LIA is here to make prevention accessible to all.
Objectives
- To reduce the incidence of malaria and other vector-borne diseases in vulnerable communities through preventive measures.
- To distribute mosquito nets and pesticides to households that cannot afford to purchase them.
- To conduct community health awareness campaigns on disease prevention, hygiene, and healthy living.
- To partner with health authorities and community leaders to maximise the reach and impact of disease control activities.
Key Activities
- Procurement and distribution of insecticide-treated mosquito nets to families in high-risk communities.
- Distribution of pesticides and other vector control materials to community households.
- Community health awareness sessions covering malaria prevention, hygiene, sanitation, and general wellness.
- Engagement with local health workers, community health volunteers, and schools to disseminate prevention information.
- Collaboration with health authorities to identify communities with the highest disease burden for targeted intervention.
Orphan Support
Ensuring every child, regardless of their circumstances, grows up with care, safety, and hope.
Children who have lost one or both parents face a level of vulnerability that few others experience. Without a family safety net, orphans are at risk of dropping out of school, going without food, lacking shelter, and missing out on the care and nurturing that every child deserves. Love in Action stands alongside orphans and the institutions that care for them.
Through our Orphan Support program, LIA provides material assistance, school supplies, food items, and emotional support to orphans both living within families and those in formal orphanage settings. We work closely with orphanages and partner institutions to ensure that our support reaches those who need it most, in the most dignified and effective manner.
Objectives
- To provide material, educational, and emotional support to orphans and children in vulnerable circumstances.
- To supply school materials, food, clothing, and household essentials to orphans within families and in orphanages.
- To partner with orphanages and institutions caring for vulnerable children to strengthen the quality of care available.
- To ensure that orphaned children are not excluded from education due to a lack of resources.
- To provide regular, consistent support — not one-off gestures — to build genuine stability for the children we serve.
Key Activities
- Distribution of school materials, bags, food items, and clothing to orphans and children in vulnerable situations.
- Regular visits to orphanages and children’s homes to assess needs and deliver targeted support.
- Partnership with institutions such as FUHOSEA CMR — Foundation of United Handicaps, Orphans & Street Children — to coordinate support.
- Coordination with community leaders and social services to identify orphans in family settings who need assistance.
- Annual support campaigns aligned with the school year to ensure orphans are equipped for each academic term.
- Emotional and social support activities for children, including community events that promote inclusion and belonging.
Children's Health & HIV Support
Standing beside children living with chronic illness, with care, dignity, and sustained compassion.
Children living with chronic diseases and HIV face not only the physical burden of their illness but also stigma, social exclusion, and a lack of access to the medical resources and emotional support they need. In Cameroon, where healthcare access is already limited in many communities, these children and their families often carry their struggles alone.
Love in Action’s Children’s Health & HIV Support program is built on the conviction that every child, regardless of their health status, deserves to live with dignity, to feel cared for, and to have their needs met. LIA provides material support, health awareness, and sustained presence to children living with chronic conditions and their families, ensuring they are never alone in their journey.
Objectives
- To provide material, medical, and emotional support to babies and children living with chronic diseases and HIV.
- To reduce stigma around HIV and chronic illness through community awareness and education.
- To connect children and families with appropriate medical services and long-term care pathways.
- To ensure that a child’s health status does not determine their access to education, care, or community inclusion.
- To provide sustained, consistent support, not one-time interventions, to children who require long-term care.
Key Activities
- Distribution of medical supplies, nutritional support, and health essentials to children with chronic conditions.
- Community health education sessions focused on HIV awareness, stigma reduction, and the rights of affected children.
- Home and hospital visits to children living with chronic illness, providing both material support and emotional presence.
- Coordination with medical professionals, nurses, and health workers to identify children most in need of support.
- Referral of children and families to appropriate health facilities and specialist care services.
- Engagement with schools to promote inclusive environments for children living with chronic illness or HIV.
